Youth: Declare Movement

Walk out, Sit down.

A silent student protest on May 3rd. Students will be walking out at 1pm, and sitting down at city hall. There will be speakers to discuss the issue at hand, but otherwise all protesters will be silent.

Climate change poses an existential threat to todays youth and future generations. Humanity is not on target to meet climate goals. We must do better, or we will be left behind to suffer in the wake of a climate apocalypse.

As such, the youth are urging the city of Guelph Ontario to declare a state of climate emergency and meet a list of demands to create environmental sustainability within the city.

About Us

The Youth: Declare Movement is lead entirely by high school students from Guelph, who have come together to organize many other youth protests (such as, but not limited to, the past two walkouts tackling oppressive changes to education curriculums and education funding cuts from the current provincial government) within the past year. We represent the high school students of Guelph, and are entirely grassroots in our activism. We are fighting for Guelph to declare a state of climate emergency.
